Default SERT hardware

I got a 2004 classic and the dealer said it had a SERT installed and I have some type of hardware key but do not have any software, or cables. My question is do I have to buy a new SERT kit if I want to make any changes ?

Default RE: SERT hardware

If you have the little black box (key) with 2 DB9 connectors on it that was used on your bike, then you have what is important and no you don't need to buy another SERT.

You will need the 2 cables and software to use the SERT to make changes to your ECM. Your dealer can order all the parts separately. The CD with the software is about $20. The cable that goes from your computer to the black box is nothing more than a standard straight through serial cable with a DB9 Male on one end and a DB9 Female on the other end. This cable can be acquired from a local computer store or radio shack. The other cable that goes from the black box to the bike is specific to the application and can be purchased from your dealer.

If you have any problems obtaining any of the items from your dealer let me know and I will help.
