I got the SERT installation at the North Shore (Slidell) Harley dealerand I can tell some benefit in the performance. I justwonder what is "in the box" when you get the "take home"SERT parts afterthe installation. Do you get a CD or some software, computer hook up cable, etc.,or do you just get the small box that the SERT comes in?
1) CD of latest maps
2) Cable that connects SERT to your computer with serial port(may not be included these days)
3) The SERT (small black box - Dongle)
4) Cable that connects SERT to the ECM of your bike (may not be included these days)
Cable, data link and cd with software is what comes in the box. The cd contains "Canned Tunes" for mods that you have done to your bike and software that actual charts and gives you the ability to modify parameters of the ECM over and above the "Canned Tunes".
The cd also contains instructions.

There will not be any cables in any SERT box unless you buy old stock sold over 2 years ago.(maps on the cd will be that old too)
You will not get the almost always needed Serial port connector required to hook the SERT to your lap top.
What you get is this:
A canned map/instruction cd
A sert -dongle
and the box this comes in, thats it.
The SERT cost $459.99 and tax. Of course, the SERT has to be installed and the dyno tune is all extra. I was just reading about SERT's and read about programs PC's and wondered if the "program" comes with the SERT or if that is something that only dealers have. I guess the cable link would be easy enough to get if it is no longer included in the package.
If I understand correctly the current SERT comes with a small "black box" and a CD instruction program that also has factory maps on it. Right?

Yes, it depends on which SERT you buy as to what maps you get, if you buy a 07 version it will have 07 and back maps, 08 will have 08 and back. It is updated each year, part number stays the same only letter at end changes. SERT cable is 29.95 at the dealer, serial port cable runs another 25.00 or so depending on where you can find it.
