Default New Tank for 06 Street Bob - External Fuel Pump??

I thinking about putting a custom tank (narrower and mounted higher on the backbone) on my Street Bob but have some questions about the fuel pump. I talked to Independent Gas Tank and they said that to do it I would have to mount an external fuel pump since the EFI's have the fuel pump in the tank. Would this be possible? Where would I go about getting a fuel pump that would work for the EFI system? Or would it just be better to modify the existing tank?

Depends on you, your skills, and your budget. Having the pump in the tank is a real bonus. It's cooler, lasts longer, quieter, and cuts down on clutter. If you want a tank that's radically differant, then trying to modify what you have is going to be more hassle than it's worth. If you want to pay somebody to do it for you, it will be extremly expensive. If it were me (and it's not), I would get the tank I like and have it fitted for an internal fuel pump.

The exception to that would be if I was trying to make a lot of power. You can't feed 124 cu" at 6,000 rpm's with a stock fuel pump.

So is the tank built around the pump? How big is the pump?

The pump is actually under the console, at the top of the tank. It's not real big, smaller than a Mustang pump.
