Twin Tec and Autometer hookup woes

Hey, having an issue getting this hooked up..
I've got Twin Tec 1005 nose cone ignition and an autometer tach.
First, I can't find anywhere on Twin Tec's site (instructions n such) on if it uses 1 or 2 pulse per rev, so I don't know if I should cut the brown wire or not on the tach. I am pretty sure it's a single pulse and should be cut - I'm just double checking.
Second, I'm trying to find out if the brand new tach is working. I have 2 coils, and I understand I need to use (or make) the adapter from the (-) coil terminals to the tach wire, so that it shows the correct rpm.. Until that is hooked up, I read somewhere I can hookup just 1 coil and that will show half the rpm.. Tried that, and the tach won't register anything <shrug> So I'm not sure if I screwed up something or the tach doesn't work.
Thanks!
