Default SS Super E tuning Trick

I got a SS Super E on my thousand cc iron-head and I got a printed manual for the carburetor. I just could never get the engine to run as good as the guy who put it on for me. I had to try things like hunt down the jets for my homes elevation, tried to adjust it right, put mini-baffles in the drag pipes. The other day I had to clean and lubricate the cables. While doing so I thought about routing them differently to be more like stock like the manual says. This time I made sure the throttle closed quickly with the front wheel pointed straight and left and right. Usually I take all the free play out of the cables and do not care if it closes quickly. This time I lucked out and read in the manual that in order to get the throttle to close quickly in every wheel position all you have to do is adjust a little more freepllay in the cable. Making the throttle snap shut just like the manual tells you to early on has made my bike run a lot better without any pops out the carburetor.
