im having problems getting the lifter/valve tappit out on rear intake it moves and comes up an inch but like its stuck or something

The lifter housing will need to be removed. They are a snug fit. On the front and rear of the lifter housing you should see grooves where the removel tool attaches to lift the housing out.

On an 81, just twist a few times and pull it straight up. Earlier models needed a special tool.
