The battery cover is unique to 1980 and 1981, so they are hard to find. You could find a used or if you get lucky, an NOS part on eBay, but you will have to search often and be prepared to pay enough to outbid anyone else who wants it. The part numner is 66601-80. You may have to pay $100 or more.
To post pics here upload them to PhotoBucket, then Copy/Paste the IMG code from there to your message here. The IMG code will appear as the 4th item in a list under the pic when you simply pass the mouse pointer over it. Click the IMG code and it is automatically Copy'd.
The factory service manual 99484-85 and the factory parts catalog 99451-85A are your most important tools. Get these immediately! if you do not already have them. On eBay they are typically $25 on CD [may be illegal] or $50 for OEM paper still in shrink wrap.
The part numbers are important for searching eBay, on-line catalogs, Google, etc.

The aftermarket front brake switches typically cost around $10. If you can get a Harley Davidson switch it will cost at least $25, and it will be worth every penny. The aftermarket switches are a perfect example of the cheap, no-good, cr@p parts imported from the orient.
+1...I got some switches from J&P; to look like OEM three position light switches. Of the three I have none. They all failed right away, one didn't even work at all.
My HD has motomaster light switches form Canadian Tire. LOL.
