break calipers
What year is your bike?
The calipers typical on 78 to 83 are loose, floppy, and rattley by design. You can reduce the rattle by installing new bushings in the forks and by using o-rings on the bolts. I make the o-rings from slices of 3/8" ID fuel line. Do not make them so tight that they cannot move.

I have a caliper on the rear. It has some movement along the same direction as the disk...the pads keep it tight side to side. It is mounted on a pin that is about 3/4 of an inch or so thick. It doesn't move enough to worry me.
