Default Just Rented M8 Road Glide 340 mile review.

Rented a 2017 Road Glide Special from Scottsdale HD here in Arizona. Rode it from 9am to 5pm and 340 miles on as many different types of road conditions as possible. In a nutshell: The Milwaukee 8 is Awesome, Smoother, Cooler, and more power than any Harley motor yet. Pulled my arms out of their sockets a few times. ....Handles great in high speed curves, But the new suspension is still a little harsh for the long haul.

I concur with your review. HD suspension has always been ****. The new suspension is an improvement, but it's still not what I would call a "premium" suspension. I have plans to upgrade to Ohlins components sometime in the future. For now it's fine, but it can be so much better.

the RGS and SGS only have 2" of rear travel and the other Touring bikes have 3"..you'd be surprised what a difference an extra inch makes..at least that's what my wife tells me when we're 'two up'...whatever the hell that means..LOL

I have to agree with that. I my 2016 RGU had air shocks I switched it to the RG air shocks to lower it a bit. Major difference. It also seemed to bottom out more on harsh bumps. Other wise I had no issue with the stock air shocks. When I trade the bike both set went with it new owner can figure it out for their self .
Wife and I are happy with the 2017 RGU just as it is. This is our 5th RG or RGU so we are use to the product.
Heck I purchased the 2017 without even riding it. I wanted the M8 engine to ride off into retirement on.

Good summary, and matches my observations, after renting an M8 Road King for a weekend.

Oh yeah, I relaxed my OEM Airshocks on my TriGlide with Progressive HD shocks. Huge improvement!!!!

Edit: oh yeah, the clutch killed my left hand. Much worse than my TriGlide that has an SE clutch & SE heavy spring.

I find it really weird that so many folks complain about the clutch. It's very smooth and easy to hold in at long stoplights for me.

This I agree with also. I also ride my 1996 FB now there is a stiff clutch. I will replace the clutch with an adjustable one the minute someone offers one that fit. So I can move change the tarvel

I also noticed some kind of feedback sound(thunk) and feel in the clutch whenever you shift. Annoying yes, but I guess you could get used to it.
