Honestly, if you have a lot of miles under your belt, the SG (or RK) will be a short learning curve and would suit your need for a variety of riding scenarios. All this being said, my Dyna makes me feel like I'm on a Harley. The M8 is great, but it's so refined it reminded me of a good metric.
I ride my 2017 RK most of the time between 55-60 mph 5th gear about 2800-3000 rpms and she purrs with a cool kind of whirl sound. I have a little over 3,200 miles and the RK M8 is just as much fun to flick through round a bouts and backroads as my Dyna but a much better ride. I have bonded with my M8 RK and found out the M8 really is a Harley!

I essentially did this, I come off a well tuned and suspension upgraded hotrod shovelhead to the M8 RK. Did feel weird at first as the RK is heavier and sits quite a bit higher saddle wise. Took a few hundred miles breaking it in and getting a feel for the bikes handling and while different and a bit bigger in tight & slow spots I've found myself riding and hot ******* just like the old bike. Difference is the RK feels solidly connected to the road and it's got a lean angle most won't get near using all of. It's bigger but you find you adjust quick with M8's torque band the bike just begs to be ridden and not just in a straight line.

Downside to having too much fun around town on the RK is seriously crappy gas milage

Good point. I did find I had to give a bit more throttle off a stop.

Good observation. Currently, the M8 meets Euro 4, but not the 2020 Euro 5. And if you're wondering why HD wants to meet these regs - the growth has been overseas. With declining domestic sales the MoCo can't ignore this.

Hey TwiZted Biker, Right On! I feel the same way. You said it better than I could...(had too much fun in the 60's-70's I guess) The M8 RK is just as much fun for me as as riding my Dyna.
