I’ll try to take and post photo in next day or two that’ll show why Street cannons are germane, and how shock length and bike height are adjustable without impact on shock travel.

SWThomas, look at posts #26 & #28 on thread titled “17 SGS Shocks”
The bottom left photo shows Ohlins 159 shock. Near lower bolt, there are lock nuts that when loosened allow you to adjust overall shock length, without impact on travel. Photos show the shock length here was also reduced to minimum, else there would be threads shown near lower bolt.

Keith, the longer the shock, the closer the swing arm gets to the muffler. The 4.5” SE street cannon might accommodate 13” shock, but clearance at lower bolt gets tight, so I reduced lengths of shocks to 12.5”.

I see it now. Thanks for the explanation.

Shock replacement gets tight at lower bolt with SE cannons due to their 4.5” diameter.
I know on the early FLT’s it is sometimes necessary to space the mufflers away from the swing arm. Did you run into any clearance issues on the install here?

Clearance was tight. Since I was replacing 12” shocks and the new ones were easily adjusted down to 12.5”, I did that.

Installed the 159’s yesterday on my ‘17 FLHXS with Street Cannons. Shortened the shock up as OP Fullbore did. Spaced the Street Cannons down about .300 to gain a little clearance to the lower shock end at full droop.

About 80 miles on them today. Far superior to the OE ‘Premium’ on the ‘17 and later bikes. Can’t wait to get a few hundred miles on them, and dial them in again. Digging them already.
