I got into this same discussion yesterday with a riding buddy. I have always checked the oil on the side stand. I pulled out my 2017 FLTRU owners manual and sure enough it said to check the oil upright. So I drained the oil and got exactly 31 oz out. I put it back in and added an ounce to make up for the residual oil in the drain pan. I then checked the oil upright and on the side stand. When checked upright my oil level was at the add mark on the dip stick. When I checked the oil on the side stand it showed full. YMMV

I agree MOCO does bring the issues on themselves. My dealer is training his sales people on how some repairs are done having the work with the tech. Not sure that will help but we will see

The seal and nut absolutely works, but if there’s a simpler solution that is easier to install I’m all for it.
waiting for my 14 cvo pushrod to arrive. Got a 2k trip coming up . That for sure will test it

I think it's idiotic that the new touring trans fluid level check has you screwing down the stick only until the o-ring contacts the transmission. With such a small margin of error, that seems loosey-goosey beyond explanation. They certainly don't make it easy.
