Grooves on right side axle spacer?
#31
Can we go back to this Chamfer thing for a second? I got confused as to whether it was on the outboard side or the inboard side. (I really don't want to go out to the shop and yank a wheel off just to look, but will if needed, lol). I agree, if it is on the outboard side, it may be there to help guide the axle as it goes through the fork/spacer/wheel bearing. But if it's on the inboard side, could the spacer be chamfered to provide a relief so the spacer doesn't drag on the inner race of the wheel bearing as it spins around? Someone was posting here saying his wheel was making noise until he flipped the spacer around. I agree with TSheff, everything gets cleaned and laid out on a bench or floor as they came off, so I never really paid attention to the chamfer.

This is from the 2014 touring service manual:
Be sure that grooves on external spacer(s), or index pin on
front WSS (if ABS equipped), are on the outboard side. If
motorcycle is not ABS equipped, external spacers on left and
right side of wheel hub are interchangeable
One thing that I've be doing is taking a bunch of pictures, with the cell phone, before I work on/disassemble anything. It assists the memory when it's time to reassemble things.

For the sake of some, I am not taking credit for this valuable post.
