Yep but it takes months if not years to get the settlement. And the law only gives you the depreciated book value of the motorcycle with the miles already on it. Sounds good in theory but I’d rather they keep replacing engines and stage IV kits till they get it right.

Well best of luck and sure hope this all works out. My hat is off to you for exhibiting the patience you have throughout this ordeal. It is times like this that a person can really appreciate having a 2nd bike. Time is never on my side and need a bike to ride when I have the opportunity.

Its sad that 2 bikes are needed if you’re going own 1 Harley. But my 2 bikes are quite different to ride. Even after the craziness on the 2017 CVO Limited, it really is a terrific bike to ride. Powerful, smooth and lots of features. Hopefully I can report back that the stage IV upgrade goes well. You can be sure I will put it through its paces as soon as its broken in. I’ll know pretty quickly if its going to sump.

You couldn't give me $2k in exchange for 6 weeks of possible down time... Oh, Hell no. If it was December, maybe but then again, I live in Norcal and ride all year.

I'm never down...(Unless stuck a huge distance from home). Just time to pull out my other bike.

In late '17 when I was looking to buy a new Road Glide, I brought up the common issues with a local dealer and the sales guy had the gall to tell me that's why I should have a second bike. I was incredulous. I didn't buy from him either lol.

I've had this 3rd stock 114 engine since Aug 2017. It runs really well and I'm confident in my ability to induce sumping however all efforts on this engine have shown no signs. It really runs great in all conditions and temps. But of course its still stock.

The MoCo has owed me a Stage IV upgrade under the factory warranty since last summer due to the previous 2 engines (stage IV) failing due to sumping. They made good by providing me a free 7yr ESP including the Stage IV upgrade. I waited through the winter to see if additional changes/or modifications were made to the Stage IV kits.

Obviously they have continued to make changes to the oil pump but otherwise there have been no further changes to the kit. So it goes back into the dealer shop for the stage IV upgrade to this 3rd engine. The install will be supervised onsite by the HD dealer rep and with support from MoCo Tech support. The install should be relatively straightforward using the latest instructions for installing the most current oil pump. I've attached pics of this latest oil pump version for those that are interested.

Hopefully a better outcome on this upgrade.

Do not put that oil pump in your bike it is the wrong one for the 117ci Stage IV.. The box # is correct yes but the pump casting needs to be a (last 3 digits) 180.. the 62400144 is for the 114ci true, but not for the 117ci Stage IV.

THANK YOU!! You are absolutely correct. My 2017 CVO Limited is scheduled for disassembly tomorrow before the Stage IV kit install. I called my dealer this morning regarding the casting information you provided. HD Tech services confirmed the oil pump in the pics I posted are for a “Gen 3” oil pump.

When they put my VIN into the sytem, they confirmed that for my Stage IV 117 build it requires a “Gen 4” oil pump with a casting # that ends in 180.

My dealer had ordered the correct part # from SB1450. How are dealers or anyone for that matter, suppose to order the correct oil pump? My recommendation is that no one should upgrade their oil pump unless their dealer has called the VIN in to HD Tech Support to ensure the most current and correct pump is being ordered.

HD is overnighting the correct oil pump for delivery to my dealer tomorrow morning. Thank you again for the information. I will post pics of the Gen 4 oil pump after it arrives.

Makes me want to rush right out and buy one of these poorly designed pieces of junk.
