When tour pak is off, how to protect fender?
I just bought a 2018 Ultra Limited Anniversary Edition. Love it! I had the dealer install the detachable tour pack. I am very concerned that the wiring will scratch the rear fender. It seems like it will rub against the fender when the tour pack is on and when it is off. I took it off and then wrapped the remaining wires with a soft micro-fiber small towel and zipped it up against the luggage rack I put on when tour pack is off. Probably not the best fix....and certainly can't do when I put the rack back on. Hmmmmm......I had the dealer move the antenna into the fairing, so I have less wires to worry about, but it is still a problem. Anybody done anything clever here?

I see your point. I will see about taking my seat off and trying to find a place for the wires. Makes sense. But when the tour Pak is ON the bike, won’t the wires be resting on the fender? They will be out of sight (just under that leather flap) but still sitting on the fender. Any suggestions for that situation?

I will be dealing with that problem soon when I re-attach my tour pack. I'm going to try using some quick release straps to hold the wiring up and away from the fender. There are a few other remedies guys have come up with on the forum. One is using a shelf made of plexiglass to fit between the rack and tour pack.

Let me know what you end up doing. I will post here if I find any remarkable way to deal with it! Not overly worried but want to prevent any problems. I have to say that I really enjoy the way the bike handles with the tour pack off. I LOVE the bike either way, but it is nice to have 2 bikes effectively.

I simply wrap the wires up in a bundle and stick them in one of those freebie can cozies that get handed out. Never had a problem. I wrap velcro straps around the cozy to keep them tight then stick them in the recess where the rider backrest goes under the seat. Another solution is to buy a chunk of clear 3M paint guard and apply that to the fender under the seat. I've done both.
