I would want the dealer to pull the service records. If they are a Harley dealer it shouldn't be a problem. I would also ask to speak to the previous owner. The dealers here will arrange that if you ask. If its got 17k miles and it runs and rides good, you are probably ok. Just my opinion.

yeah, available maintenance, modifications and repair history would be mandatory for me..has warranty been compromised, etc. if not you have transferrable left on it with an opportunity to extend that before factory 2 year expires....stuff like are tires original or been replaced, and if latter were wheel bearings ok..that could be an expense or in your favor depending on the answer, same with brakes, required hydraulic fluid flush, upcoming 20K service, etc etc all adds up to addt'l expenses that you might leverage as bargaining chips..good luck
