No Separate Primary Vent on 2019 Touring

The drawing is misleading. Item 8 in the drawing is not part of the oil pump cover, it is the o-ring for the oil pump scavenge spigot. My bike is a 2017 and it had the original pump and cover. The drawing for the 2017 has item number 8 also but it is not on the pinion shaft. I replaced my oil pump and cover with the seal with the latest generation in December 2018.

Yes sir, your right in that an O-ring would be short lived on the main shaft … that's why it's not an o-ring … item 29 is an oil deflector and it is in fact there on the 2019s.

When was the build date on your bike? I'm curious, I think I'll have to add the New seal to mine when we install the cam. Mine has a build date of Aug. 2018, dang it.

I mentioned item 8 because another poster had mentioned that there is a seal and an O-ring on the shaft for the new pump components.

I went by the local dealer today. They had one 2019 RGS on the floor and it didn’t have a vent hose on the primary, so I guess that MOCO fix for transfer didn’t make it for the production run. From initial reports it doesn’t solve the problem anyway. Of course not solving the problem hasn’t stopped them from making the oil deflector a production piece. It will be interesting to see if the transfer problem continues, I’m betting it does!
I'll update as soon as I’ve put 3-4K on it. By then we should know if the CVO pcs. are needed or not. Thanks again for all of your efforts on this issue, and sharing them on the forum.
