Question - what is the average shift point on peoples M8's?

General riding, I shift around 3000-3500rpm. Sometimes higher. Not on a regular basis.

Just trying to understand and figure out if this 'sumping' is related to bikes that are ridden harder or not.

Crazy

and the wide variances in the amounts of fluid being reported, from very minimal to sucking them nearly dry and everything in between and the amount of miles it takes..then periods of getting your hopes up as it appears to have ceased only to resurface out of the blue..confusing as Hell

He did say they have to request it from HQ, it's not an orderable part.
Typical dealership bullsh!t right there.

Just go with $tonecold's fix. He and it are the real deal.

This thread is about fluid transfer from transmission to primary, not sumping. Two totally different problems.

It is possible my 2018 RGU is transferring a small amount of tranny oil over to the primary. But it is very, very small. Since I read these forums regularly, I had taken note of the transfer problem, and have kept a close eye on the tranny oil, checking it maybe every 3 to 4 hundred miles.

Just to calibrate it, I've topped the tranny off with a measured amount of oil TWICE in the past 6k miles. I've added a total of 3 oz, about 1.5 oz each time. This is a minuscule amount of oil, and probably is perfectly normal.

However, I never saw any oil leave the tranny on my 2016 Ultra Classic. So it is annoying. Thankfully, it is manageable without having to take the bike to a dealer shop and endure all of that.

In my opinion 3 oz's of tranny fluid migration is not "perfectly normal".
Any amount of tranny fluid loss is problematic.

not according to the ****! they use a sliding scale, just bump the threshold of what's acceptable on the fly

That's the most annoying thing about the MoCo's handling of this issue....

None of my Harleys from my 1978 to my 2016 transfered oil from the trans to the primary... it is not normal, nor should it be acceptable....

And yet the MoCo, decides that 3 oz of transfer is now normal..... to reduce their exposure and not need to redesign the engine case to fix it......

I find that very frustrating.......

Already PM'd him, need to get this done in the next two weeks, and it looks like I'm on the next batch. He seems like a really good dude!
BTW, the dealer is only going to log how much fluid comes out of the primary at my request. I was told by a birdy that if a dealer submits a service request to the mothership for the trans fluid migrations, there's a small chance the dealer would be asked to provide full details on the ECU. And I wasn't taking that chance... for "personal" reasons.
