Default Stage one intake, fuel management , slip on’s

I just purchased a new Heritage 114. I’m putting on V&H Twin slash slip on’s. I was told that I really don’t need to add the stage one intake and street fuel management to the M8. On my 2014 103, I put on Cobra RPT slip on’s, fuel Management and stage one intake.
The dealership told me, if I’m going to be racing I might want to do it but if I’m just riding no need. Everything that I have read, they say if your putting on slip on’s, it’s a good idea to follow up with FM and Stage one intake.
Anyone’s thoughts would be great.
Thanks
S

Slipons alone dont need FM. The stock intake has plenty of air for a stock engine.

There are tons of new harleys on the showroom floors and have been sold off the floor with slip ons on them. I bought my 17 RGS stock only because they didnt have the slip ons I wanted. @ weeks later slip ons went on. After my 1000k service I did the stage 1. Bike ran fine with just slip ons. Not once did they tell me I had to do the stage 1 with the slip ons, but I did that with anticipation of doing an aftermarket stage 2, which I did about 9 months later.

This is my opinion only, from what I have read here about this issue: You don't need to add anything else if you are just putting on slip-ons. With the V&H's you'll get a nice sound. With the 114 you'll get nice power. Why do you need to spend any more money for extra stages? Are you planning on drag racing that Heritage? LOL!

I put V&H Twin slash rounds and rode for the first year. I replaced the A/C with the HD SE Ventilator because I prefer the look. HD says you need the tune for the A/C so I used the SEPST. Bike runs nice but no drag racing with 1/2 ton of bike and rider 😉

The M8s are set up so well, that a Stage 1 does nothing for performance, as they already breathe well. And adding slipons is just for the sound. If all you do are slip ons, then you don’t need a tuner. If you get it dynoed the best you’ll get is 2-3 hp & torque, and no change the curves.

Do you lose your cats when installing aftermarket slip ons?

Good question, 2018+ Have their cats in the mufflers from Harley, not in their headers.
