Default Harley Aux Power Switch Kit Fairing Mount 71400129 not doing much...

Anyone use the Aux power switch 71400129 on their Road Glide? I had installed one back in 2016 on my Rushmore Road Glide Special and used it to control the aux power connector. As I recall I only used the switch and it alone controlled power to the aux connector under the right side panel.

However when I plugged it into my 2020, it does nothing. It lights when pressed, but has no effect on either the three or 4 pin aux power connectors on the right and left side, respectively. I tried the harness that comes with the kit, which connects to both aux connectors and provides a single 4 pin port as well as three bare (covered for now) wires which are supposed to be activated with the two switches. I didn’t test the bare wires, but the connector behaves the same as without the harness at all. I.e. power is supplied regardless of dash switch position. Ignition on, powered. Ignition off, not...

I’ll see what the wiring diagrams look like, but it just seems odd that this has no effect. Anyone use it successfully?

Well, another example of me not thinking something through before making a post. Looking at the diagrams, I see the 4 wires in the left accessory connector are 1 ground, 1 hot, and 2 that run up to the dash switch connector. So with my handy multimeter I found the two wires did indeed provide power controlled by the dash switch. So I hacked together an adapter that gave me the switched power I needed without having to use the overly complicated (for my simple need) harness that came with the switch.

So just FYI. On the 4 way accessory power connector under the left side panel, light blue/yellow is controlled by switch 1, light blue/white is switch 2. If you don’t need more then 2 amps, you don’t need the switch harness.
