Default Accessory power

Please help me stop being really stupid.

I have looked in the owners and service manual and I can't find where the damned switched accessory power connector is. Under the left side panel there is a molex port my power vision is plugged in to (diag connector) and another what looks like a 8 pin connector. Is that switched accessory power?

Thanks.

The switched accessory power is actually an output from the BCM & requires adding a new switch to the CAN BCM input circuit. There are a few different flavors of wiring/switch kits available. Here's a link to one of them. The Guides tab will provide a link to the installation instructions. The harness connects to the 8 pin connector under the left side cover. Three switch positions to the left of the ignition switch are predetermined: left is driving lamps, center is direct for under 2A accessories, right is for over 2A accessories using a relay. See your local parts department & tell them what you've got, what you're trying to do & see if they can get you the least expensive route to making it work.

Thanks for the reply. That's an interesting kit. So the 8 pin connector is aux power, it just needs to be broken out it looks like. That harness looks to include switches that go on my dash blanks, as well as a relay for something. I wonder if since I don't needs switching if I can use the connector w/o the switch kit.

I'll talk to the dealer. Again, thanks.

Edit: Just saved myself $50... found this:

And there seems to be a kit identical except is also contains a switch housing. I guess some models have a preexisting switch and some don't.

Again, thanks.

Again, those outputs are controlled by the BCM. They have NO POWER on them unless the mating BCM inputs are activated (unless this harness bypasses the BCM control via a hard-wired hot in the harness?).

If you're looking for a switched power source (only hot when ignition switch is in ON position), you may need to find a switched circuit that you can splice into. Also remember that CAN bus bikes use the BCM to monitor current draw & may shut down a circuit to protect the wiring if it sees too high of a draw.

It is the 8 pin connector under the left side cover.

This kit gives you accessory power for heated seats with the Deutsch plug and low amp accessories on the bare wires. It is only hot when the ignition switch is on. I have this on mine for my heated seat.

Thanks. The harness breaks out switched power without the need for dash switches.

Yep, bought it and it's the solution. Thanks.

I am somewhat confused here. I purchased this connector kit (same part number) and plugged it into the 8 pin under the left side cover as instructed. Problem is, mine is constant hot no matter the position of the switch on the triple tree. I wanted it to be a switched on only as it is being used to power accessory lights in the fender guards on a 2016 Triglide.
You stated that " it is only hot when the ignition switch is on"?

You bought the wrong kit. It is confusing because there are 3 different accessories wiring harnesses available:
  1. harness w/power (not switched)
  2. harness w/switched power & complete switch housing & switches
  3. harness w/switched power & switches

You bought harness 1. You need harness 2 if your bike doesn't already have the switch housing or harness 3 if you have already have the switch housing.

To provide switched power for my Limited, I needed harness 3. I suspect harness 2 if for SG & SGS models that don't come equipped with the driving/spot lamps from the factory.

@Hammz do you have part numbers for those three switch options?
