Default Tensioner Shoes

How are the M8 cam & primary chain tensioner shoes holding up for you high mileage guys? I should hit 70k miles by the end of the year and I'm thinking about winter maintenance projects for that one week of winter we get in January.

yeah and at six MY in the books we can be damn well sure we’d have heard about it ad nauseam if they didn’t hold up well. I’m seriously considering running this one to 100 K as a curious experiment to see if anything fails

Dang, I can't find it.... Somebody posted a question whether to rebuild their M8 now or to hold out to the end of their extended warranty. The eye catching statement was that they've got 260k miles on it. Probably box stock, and somebody asked for their maintenance & repair history. This seems like a really valuable post for me to lose track of, especially if the OP provides what repairs were done and when. Maybe one of the smart kids can find it?

Found it, in the General Harley Davidson Chat sub-forum. The OP hasn't touched the engine, but it's box stock so there's that. Maybe we should be conservative and change the cam chain shoes at 150k miles...,

7 months have gone by, I'm approaching 80k miles, and still haven't checked the tensioner shoes.

Any new news on these?

Are the original lifters still in the engine?
