subscribed, I'm interested to see what you find. also, be sure it's not your compensator ramp that broke, seem to see a few of those lately. are you sure it was on the right side of the bike?

Not the compensator so I suppose it’s narrowed to lifter or rods. Not sure what else to check. I wanted to throw a new set of lifters back in and see what happens figure if it’s rods I’m screwed anyway, but had more bad luck and 1 of the tappet cuff bolts sheared on me so working on that now. Bad start with this bike but it has a back story for me so I’ll get it fixed whatever it takes.

Attached is a video of the noise. Just installed fresh lifters obviously it was them. I ran let it warm up for a bit and no luck. Maybe rocker arms but I’m not sure debating if I want to take a stab at it or bring to a shop to diagnose.

Take a wooden broom stick or a wooden dowel or handle of some sort, put it right to your ear and start touching parts of the engine with the other end. Use it as a stethoscope, works very well and it’ll point u in a direction where it could be coming from. Put it on the valve covers to see if it’s coming from there and which one

Here’s the damages. Rear piston scored ang gouged cylinder wall. Looks like front piston started to have minor scoring as well on cylinder wall. I don’t know what I’m doing is there other things I should look at before installing a new kit?

Thats problematic however thats not going to be your knock. Thats piston skirt scoring and maybe a little ring damage from assembly.

Pull the heads, take a hone to them and order a new set of rings and make sure you get the placement of the rings correct. I realize your existing rings could have spun around but they do not appear to be placed correctly.

Scotch brite the pistons and make sure they are 100% clean with a no lint towel and use plenty of oil before punching the pistons in.

I will add this is the second time this engine has killed pistons. Last was a screaming eagle stage 3 kit now this fuel moto 124 wondering if possibly piston oilers are not functioning properly I will pull them next.

regarding the knock/tapping I’m not sure what exactly to classify it as. Is it possible this could be it. When I listened to the motor with screwdriver it sounded like the noise was coming from rear cylinder only than this is what I found.
