Friend gave me a 107 m8. Stated it locked up after he put in a cam himself. I’m tearing the motor down and removed the cam plate and this is what I see. What am I dealing with? I know it’s the crankshaft.

It appears that he didn't put the oil pickup on the pump in the pickup passage on the case, if the pump is in the same position it was when you opened the case. I have circled the pickup on the pump in the picture below. It should be in the bigger hole to the left with the O-ring in it. If it was in this position, he wouldn't have been able to get the bolts that attach it to the cam plate to work. So if this is the case, he starved the engine for oil and ruined the bearings and scored the cylinders, basically making it into a piece of junk.

The pump appears to be in the correct position; the o ring is where the cam plate connects.

Was all the swarf sitting at the bottom of the case when you removed the cam chest cover? If so, it must have come from either the cam or lifters from above. Or did it fall out of the pump when you removed the cover? Pictures of the related parts would be more telling.
Colonel Mustard did it in the Ballroom with the Candlestick.
It's all guesses at this point with no real clues.
I'll take the botched cam bearing removal that left pieces behind slot.
