New Dyna S owner in FL
Just got a 2017 Low Rider S and loving it! How it became mine is cool story...
I've been riding since the 70s and have owned many bikes over the years, but no Harleys during that time. I have done restorations, worked as a bike mechanic early in life so bikes have been a big part of my world for nearly 40 years. I own 4 bikes currently including a couple of 60s Triumphs. The past few years I've been toying with the idea of picking up an FXDX, FXRS and diving into HD ownership, but after riding the FXDLS in Daytona during the Bikeweek demo days last year I really wanted one. Also, researched picking up a Street Bob and improving its performance (brakes, suspension etc.). Learned a lot from reading posts here in the forums.
Fast forward to a few months ago and on a whim I convince my wife to accompany me to the local HD dealer late on a Saturday so I could show her what I was looking at. Turns out the dealer was just closing up for the day and as luck would have it they didn't have any Low Rider S's on the floor to look at. The rep took my name and said if we came by Sunday they'd get one for me. We had things to do the following day so never went back and that was the last I pursued it.
Weeks later it's my birthday and my wife and kids tell me they want to meet me to a local bike/car themed restaurant for dinner. As we walk up to the entrance, there sitting out front with a few other bikes is a Dyna S. What are the odds? I say, "Hey, this is the bike I wanted to show you at the dealer when we went! What do you think? Damn, I love this bike!" She walks around it, says it's beautiful and loves the color.
I turn around and my daughter is recording the whole thing on her phone, and says, "This is the one you wanted? Good thing, Happy Birthday it's yours!" and hands me the keys. She and my wife did everything. Went to the dealer, found the rep and bike I wanted, negotiated the deal, had it delivered to the restaurant and coordinated it with the staff and even remembered to bring my gear so I could ride it home.
I am one lucky guy!
The bike is great and I have enjoyed the first 500 miles. I plan on a few mods and will perform all the maintenance (I hope!) with the help of this forum. There seems to be quite a few FXDLS owners here so I know I'm in good company.
