I'm looking for some new routes in Massachusetts Rhode Island and Connecticut.
Hello all,
I'm looking for some good routes in Massachusetts Rhode Island and Connecticut. I've done Rt. 2 and the Mohawk trail. I'm looking for some east to West and back east again. I'm not opposed to the slabs for a short time if it gets me to one place for a good scenic ride. I've pretty much got from the south shore to the Cape covered but always open to suggestions. If you have any New England runs that start in the south shore make a loop with an overnight stay somewhere ending up back at the south shore I am game for that as well. Thanks in advance and rubber side down.
(CT) Route 190 in CT. Great country road with a little traffic in the Enfield area. (rather commercial area)
(CT) I have not ridden route 44 much, but I know the western part seems pretty enjoyable. if you ride this make sure you take a little loop up to see barkhamsted reservoir. The back roads that loop around the reservoir make a nice comfortable ride.
(MA) Route 57 west of Agawam is a nice ride all the way as far west as you would like to go..
(MA & CT) Either Route 8 or Route 7 in either direction is a very nice ride. If you get into northern/western MA on either will get you near Mt Greylock, the highest pointin MA and a Veterans memorial at its peak. (You can ride to the top)
(MA) Both route 116 and 112 in Western, MA are nice rides, but run more north/south.
(MA) Route 9 out through western, MA, make sure you take the loop through the Quabbin. Its a shor tloop with a few great overlooks. After leaving the Quabbin, continue west to 202 and head north and you will follow the western edge of the Quabbin with a great overlook at Pelham. Continue north to 122 and head back towards Worcester. That stretch of 122 is a great ride. You can with continue all the way back to Worcester on 122, or you can head south on either 32 or 32A. both of these are good rides south and can get you back to Route 9.
Just a few off the top of my head. If you check out my Youtube page you can see videos of some of these and many other rides out here in Western, MA and Northern CT. Look up Scruffy Santa Rides on Youtube. Hope all this helps and feel free to contact me with any questions.

Wow, thanks so much for the info and the videos. I wish I could be give you the same amount of information about rides here in the south shore. Going to give the RT 9 a shot out to do that quabin loop today. Thanks again, rubber side down.
