Is Redline MTL,suppose to do this, I found this stuff hanging from the top of my Primary case.

 

Yea it was the Primary sorry about that I have no idea why I put transmission.. I actually drained the engine oil as well , looking for anything I could find to explain the noise I heard. I'm really hoping it is like Ripshaw suggested. I'm still learning this bike, got my manual etc.

 

I would not be surprised if that screech came from somewhere else in the motorcycle.
I'm sure it's a different situation, but in my case I had a starter gear intermittently engaging for a second or two (quite a noise!) all due to a shorted wire inside my fairing years ago. Any chance it could have come from the belt, or brakes maybe?

 

I was driving down a dirt/gravel rd just in front of my house 100ft or so, 20 mph, in 2nd gear, like I said sounded like some metal wire going through a garbage disposal! I dont know if it was me reacting to it but the engine seemed to drop RPM for a second or two and then it cleared right up.

 

Rock trapped in tire scraping the underside of the fender?

 

Its embarrassing to admit, but at this point it appears to be as good an explanation as any.
