What is this that came out of my Transmission?

Yea it was the Primary sorry about that I have no idea why I put transmission.. I actually drained the engine oil as well , looking for anything I could find to explain the noise I heard. I'm really hoping it is like Ripshaw suggested. I'm still learning this bike, got my manual etc.

I would not be surprised if that screech came from somewhere else in the motorcycle.
I'm sure it's a different situation, but in my case I had a starter gear intermittently engaging for a second or two (quite a noise!) all due to a shorted wire inside my fairing years ago. Any chance it could have come from the belt, or brakes maybe?

I was driving down a dirt/gravel rd just in front of my house 100ft or so, 20 mph, in 2nd gear, like I said sounded like some metal wire going through a garbage disposal! I dont know if it was me reacting to it but the engine seemed to drop RPM for a second or two and then it cleared right up.
