Suitable oil for tranny...
Been reading the oil/lube posts. I have Syn3 20W/50 in all three holes now but I'm worried about my tranny. Our temps range 78°F nights, 88°F days, 365 days a year. I can't order oils in the mail out here due to DOT shipping restrictions.
We have CarQuest and NAPA outlets on the island. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim.

RE: Suitable Oil for 04 DWGI tranny...
Islander, You should be able to find a good synthetic at your local parts house. Alot of good things said about M1 V twin and M1 Gold Cap 15W-50 for the engine. I would try to find M-1 75W90 for the trans. Look on the shelf at the parts house and see what they have, then search the oil posts to find something you are happy with. The parts house may be able to order what you need, they have to be able to get oil, right? Good Luck.

Thanks, Vern.
I found M1 Full Syn 75/90 Gear Oil at Mobil. Did a 10 mile ride then drianed the Syn3 from the trans and put the M1 75/90 in.
No joy on the M1 V-Twin, so I guess the Syn3 stays in the crankcase for the time being.
No 15/50 or 20/50 or anything 50 at either Mobil, Shell, NAPA, or Car Quest. Mobil has dino 10/40 so I might put that in the primary and get the Syn3 outta there, too.

Islander,
From what I have read here, syn 3 is critical to remove from your tranny as you did, not as critical in the other holes. Where exactly are you at with the perfect temps you describe?
