Okinawa anyone?
As an active duty Marine I may be getting orders to Oki next summer.
I have a 1000 questions about taking my bike or buying one when I get there.
Let me know the scoop if anyone has gone through this.

oki marine here. i bought a bike here in oki. fairly painless if you have patience. you have to wait till you can get in on the msf class then take a day off to go chase your tail to get the registraition and inspections done. since then no worries. it has rained alot lately so not alot of riding going on. but there are some wonderful rides to be experienced here. see you when you get here.
Hey Top..Your going to love it. I suggest when you get there meet up with James Smith..He owns the First Chance Saloon on Gate 2 street. Is is President of A BIKE CLUB AND can set you in the right direction to find a used bike or help you around the Island if you buy one from the BX. A lot of folks bring there own bikes but have to fight corrosion probems due to the salty air (it is an island) I was there 10 years and made many biker friends. Hollor if you have any more questions.

Hey Top,
Im not in Oki but Im in Iwakuni and know lots of folks in Oki. So far all the gouge is good. I whould look at buying one in Oki if you can swing it. Corrision id a pain (even here in Iwakuni) The one thing I didn't hear mentioned was the quick rain showers that pop up. When it rains there it gets slick (like ice) and the driving there is a bit different then in US to say the least. If you need any info on anything else fell free to write. I can get you in touch with the right folks. And yes First Chance/Last Chance is a great place cause I would say most Harleys folks in Oki know it and use it good place with good folks.

Vette, Have your son Check with James at the First Chance ( Tell James Dave G sent you). He has plenty of bikes and won't charge you a thing. Just drink a few beers at his place and he'll be happy. Be sure to get an international license before you go. If your son rides he will know where the First Chance is. Have a great time.

I've been on Oki just shy of two years now.
Got my new 2007 Train soon after I arrived in Jun 2007.
Have just under 20,000 miles on it.
Not bad for an island that's only like 60 miles long.
I have met James and have supported a few of the Poker Runs they have hosted.
Also rode in Gate 2 Fest last year http://spotted.stripes.com/galleries....php?id=334472 , that was cool.
Great bunch of guys from what I can tell.
Anyone else from Oki on here?
