Looking for OIF/OEF Vets to link up with.
How's it going Gents, I am a OIF Vet working on a Veteran/motorcycle documentary while a buddy and I ride our bikes from Seattle to San Diego. We are going to make the ride in classic Easy Rider style, only bring minimal camping gear and cameras, with the intent of needing to be to rely on Veterans along the way for beers, help, and maybe a place to crash.
what the docs about
When I was a combat photographer in Iraq, it was my job to hitch from unit to unit documenting life in a war zone. While i lived and patrolled with different units I meet some of the best sons a bitches this country had to offer and I was always amazed at how Vets would take care of each other. When I got home I didnt like how it seemed like Vets were either portrayed as war heros or victims of PTSD. Although the wars have created their fair share of both I felt like we, as combat Vets of this generation, werent given the opportunity to tell our story. That is why I have made the goal to travel the US and go into the lives of everyday Vets, to tell the story of what they felt was worth fighting for. I want to recreate the experience I had in Iraq so the public can be brought into Veterans lives and see the real life sacrifices and celebrations that come with fighting for our country.
Our goal is to make a documentary telling the story of this generation of war fighters. We are different from any other generation before because our reasons for joining are as diverse as the people that served and i want to show that in a way thats 1 part This American Life, 1 part Easy Rider. So if you are a Veteran and would be interested in linking up this summer, you want to hear more about the project please send me a PM, I'd love to hear your story.
