Default Screaming Eagle Exhaust DB Killer

Does anyone know how to remove the DB Killer from the SE exhaust. I see the screw at the back where the carbon fiber cap is, but the insert does not want to budge with the screw removed.

Answered my own question from tinkering. There is a screw under the carbon fiber that is removed, due to the tightness of the insert I put in a dowel that fit in the pipe from the midpipe end and have it a tap to pop the insert loose, then it just pulled out with a little yank. Sounds night and day different.

I didn't take any unfortunately, but it is not all that difficult.

To remove the pipe, you simply have to unhook the spring that holds the exhaust pipe to the mid pipe, then remove the screw that attaches the exhaust pipe to the bike, just behind the passenger peg. After the spring and bolt are removed the pipe will just slide off the mid pipe. The bolt that attaches the mid pipe to the bike is 10-12 ft lbs with red loktite when reinstalling after removal of the DB killer.

To remove the DB killer, you simply remove the little rubber stopper at the bottom of the carbon fiber end cap, then remove the bolt that holds in the DB killer (dont remember the size, sorry). Mine was really tight and required be to tap it out using a piece of wood and a tap from a mallet, maybe yours would pull out, I would try that before removing the muffler from the bike.

In total it took less than 10 mins to remove the pipe, tap out the DB killer and reinstall.

Here is a link to the install instructions with the torque specs for reference https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....3?locale=en_US

Thanks for the info! Just got an SE exhaust, and am curious about the DB removal. I can pull out the round rubber grommet (circled) at the bottom of the tip. Then there is an allen bolt that is accessed thru this grommet, but is soldered in (also circled). Do you just force the removal? Do I have to remove the baffle?
Thanks!

The bolt is welded to the DB killer, the entire section is removed, this is what the insert looks like removed.
