Default 49 Panhead Major Oil Leak

Hey guys, now that I have my dads 49 running. What's with the little house under the primary leaking TONS of oil after a brief 30 second idle? See attached picture.

Tighten up or replace the little hose -
it could be a vent, a return, a chain oiler....I can't see it from here.

its very hard to see. But I can feel that it's a hose coming straight from the bottom of the primary, engine side.

I would have to put it on the lift and look, as you will.
No matter what it is it needs fixing.

this is my first street bike, first harley, and was my late fathers. Could you tell me what I shod be looking for? Why would it just pour oil out of that hose after running for a moment? Any ideas?

If you look close at my picture, you can see the hose in between the engine block and frame. It literally just goes up and 90 degree into the side of the primary case.

The last pan head I worked on was a LONG time ago.
I would guess it is the return and it does not matter-you need to replace the hose I would guess?
Make sure it is the hose as the old stuff leaked right out of the sprocket area as a regular deal.

so it's supposed to leak like that? Or it has a return line to somewhere? It's not a rotted out hose, looks like its supposed to be that way.

Older panheads have what is called a total loss oil system meaning you are always going have oil dripping some where, if it's puking at an idle it's probably the crankcase breather dumping excess out.
