Default Changing denim finish to gloss and clear coat?

I love the black with red pinstripe I have with the matte black stock paint. My question is, can that finish be changed without a complete repaint? Can the denim paint be changed to a glossy finish and then clear coated? I'd rather not have to repaint the entire bike just to get a glossy finish. Just exploring what my options are. I paint shop near me said $2000 for a complete re-paint of the entire bike, and that would be one solid color. I look forward to hearing your input.

Thanks!

I'm not a body shop guy, but I would think you could wet sand it smooth and apply clear coat over it for a shiny surface. But, I don't think it would look like the Vivid Black HD's. I believe it would look a bit less black.

Good luck.

Wet your bike down good with a water hose, if your happy how it looks wet then that's what it will look like when your apply a gloss clear coat over your factory color. The denim colors are usually just a matte clear over a standard color.

I’ve seen somewhere on the forum where someone polished out the denim, buffed out to gloss, and it looked great. Matting clear is still clear, it just “wrinkles” on the surface as it cures to create the effect.

Buff it out till it shines. Anything else is a repaint.

I think this is good stuff for the flexibility of being able to buy something like used tins in denim, for the purpose of getting it to match a vivid color. Although I'm not sure why anyone would pay more for the denim only get buff it to vivid, which is offered at no extra cost. Of course, to each their own and I guess. Come to think of it, with the different color denims out now I guess you can buff any of them to a gloss color not normally offered. So I say thanks to the pioneers doing stuff like this, it really opens doors.
