how it going everyone ? i bought a chopper earlier this year and it has a 3 " bdl open primary with the chrome covers on it! im trying to remove it so i can put new seals on the tranny output shaft and shifter shift because there leaking ! i cant get them chrome covers off i took the bolts out and stull there almost like glues on ! any ideas how to get em off
well i can feel like silicone or gaket maker through the hole ! they will not come off any ideas i dont know what genious put em on but they need kicked in the *****
Use two picks to pry it off. That's what I have to do. It's probably not silicone. It's probably the tape that they send with them which is a rubbery silicone-ish composition. Worse case scenario if you can only get a little bit of the cover pryed away spray some goo gone in them
Yep. Undo the springs on the clutch. And loosen the adjuster. After slackening the clutch cable. Then remove the clutch plates. Clutch hub but is reverse thread and you might have to pry a little or rubber mallet the clutch hub off. I don't remember if you need to take off the starter jackshaft. Front pulley but and unbolt the backing plate. That's about it. Check your front pulley spacer and make sure it's not beat to hell. If it is replace it while it's apart. And when you put it back together don't forget to locktite the clutch hub splines.
