Default shift shaft leak

Hello, I have a 2002 HD Sportster XL 1200 Custom. I have a small oil leak coming from the shift shaft. It only leaks a small amount after I ride. When the bike is cold it doesn't leak. I believe I have to replace the shift shaft seal, but how can I be sure this is the problem? Could I simply have too much oil?

Too much oil may be a problem. Do you have a service manual and use it? If you used the recommended level that shouldn't be the cause. The same manual will tell you how to replace that seal.
