Does anyone know why the deflection measurements are so vastly different on the bikes? My '10 Street Glide calls for 3/8"-5/16" deflection with the deflection tool, while my buddies '12 Cross Country Tour calls for 1.25" or so- the difference is quite a bit and what feels taught & tight on mine feels downright loose on his. I kinda thought both use a similar drive belt...

Any idea why such a great difference in settings/measurements???

That doesn't even make sense how it could be that loose. I know nothing about victories though. If you thrashed on a Harley with a belt that loose, it would break for sure. Maybe people just really put put on those bikes. I see other victories have normal tight belts how you would expect.

 

Nope - different horses for different courses! Don't lose any sleep.....

 

Victory primary is direct drive ,harley is chain drive.That may be what the difference is.

 

Actually the primary is gear drive from what I've seen. Direct drive is more like an auto tranny but with a clutch. .
