Default do I need to open the transmission?

Good day Gentlemen!

I'm new to the forum and to Harleys
I've just got a beautiful '94 Heritage softail with 81K miles on it. so the motor is going for total rebuild (which is a good thing, since I want to get a big bore kit [:@]).
My question is, however:
Should I open the transmission just in case (given the milage), with some kind of a basic rebuild kit?
I rode it around for a day, and didn't notice any problems, it shifts smoothly...

thanks for the advise

I wouldn't touch the transmission.....just leave it alone. If it ever does just die on you.....the repair price is usually about the same price as a replacement.

My 1998 Electra Glide has just over 180,000 miles on it....transmission has never been into. Used nothing but 80w90 GL5 gear oil.

Why would you open the tranny when you
don't have a problem and shifting is smooth ?????
Leave it alone.
Even the tranny on my '81 Ironhead
is still working fine.

I think some operate under the "fix it until it breaks" rule. If it's not giving you any problems, then leave it alone.

Careful on the big bore on this engine. There won`t be a lot of meat left on the case after you bore the spigots out.Make sure that whoever does this for you knows what they`re doing.I personally wouldn`t go this route on an 80 incher.Anyone want to chime in?Toby
