4-speed problems
A guy I know has a 71 (maybe 72) superglide, and he's having transmission problems. He said that it feels like the power is surging, like the clutch is slipping. He also said that it will pop out of gear every once in a while. I am going to go check it out for him, and I was going to adjust the pushrod for the clutch, but other than that, I don't really know what else to look for without completely tearing the top of the transmission off. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: 4-speed problems
Stock clutch or aftermarket?Alittle more spring pressure at clutch pack might help depending on clutch condition.Make sure alignment is square after tightening nuts and readadjust freeplay for throwout brg again. The jumping out of gear when under load is most likely worn shifting levers and lid will have to come off to verify. These trans take alot of abusebut when they begin to show their age,replacing/rebuild is recommended.Rebuilding your own unit with known good parts is the way to go,dont short cut.
