In perfect conditions your belt will probably do 100k miles. If it is making strange noises, what have you done or had done recently? If your wheel alignment is slightly out, that may cause it. Or have you changed your crash helmet? That is a serious question!

Check your wheel alignment. If the belt is pulling over to one side it may be rubbing against the edge of the rear pulley, causing that noise. Even a slight adjustment may make it go away. It is possible the wrapping has reduced exhaust noise a little, so the belt noise is more obvious!

After checking the alignment and belt tension, if it still chirps, it may just be dirty with brake and road dust. Clean it with warm water and small amount of dish detergent. Use your wife's tooth brush to scrub it. Belt will be nice and clean. Wife's teeth may start turning black though.

Also, an overly tight belt will chirp. Had that until I adjusted it, all good after.
