Default North West Territories ride.

Starting to prep for my ride to Yellowknife. Will leave this Sat. or Sun. I am going up to ND and into Canada to Saskatoon. From there to Edmonton. Got that far last year and had to abort due to Visa fraud policy limits on weekend uses of three only charges. I have always given them my route and never had a problem in the past. However it was the Memorial Day weekend in the US and there was no support just the computer denial of the fourth charge and no staff to override on duty.

This year I have two different cards told them both of the trip so I'm looking for a better outcome.

Made it as far as Banff last year and that was incredible, what little we rode through in Alberta & BC was incredible. There is some beautiful country up there. We are planning to return that way in 3 years but this time we will spend some additional time in BC ending up in Vancouver then south along the coast before turning for the east. Enjoy your ride its hard not to in that neck of the woods.

[Update]. Started Sat. Ran into heavy rain. Couldn't see road or mirrors. Turned around and followed a semi from about 60 70 ft. back. Forecast was for a sunny day.

Sunday. Took off again. I'm now in Weyburn, Saskatchewan motel. Should make Edmonton tomorrow. Will stop over there and plan my attack to the North. Very chiily here for this time of year. But sunny!

The Canadian dollar cost me $80 USD. Much better than paridy on my trip two years ago.

Tues. 6/16. Booked into a Supper 8 on the N,W. side of Edmonton @ 7PM.

I usually go to 8PM but wanted to rest more and double check the route for tomorrow. Three days ridding without rain so i'm ahead of the game.

I know exactly where you are, weather is not looking all that good for the next few days. It was much nicer two weeks before. Not much traffic where you are headed, but stay safe, and enjoy. I may be able to meet up with you for a coffee on your way back. Keep us posted!

Be sure to post up some good pics. I flew into Yellowknife and then on to Great Bear Lake and Coppermine on a fishing trip when I was a kid. Unbelievably beautiful up there.

Hope you bring some extra fuel. Between Fort Providence and Yellowknife may be close. Its 315km (196 miles). Fort Providence is that last fuel stop before Yellowknife. And bring bug spray.
