Default Short Day Trip in Wisconsin

Actually started mid Monday afternoon and rode over to Richland Center. Spent a stormy night with my best friend and then headed west on 14 to La Crosse. Crossed the Mississippi and intended to go as far as Red Wing. It is very pretty country but was mostly 4 lane and by the time I got to Wabasha decided to cross back into WI. The weather was looking very threatening and turns out there was a tornado latter that night in NW WI. Took US35 south along the river back to La Crosse. Just south of La Crosse I picked up 33 west to Baraboo. This was the best part of the day. Winding 2 lane took me through Wildcat Mountain State Park. Once in the Baraboo area it was Hwy 12 south past Sauk City. Jumped on 19 east to I94 east back home. Last hour was bucking a strong cross wing which worn me out. Made it home by 5pm. This was my first all day ride of the year and it worn me out but loved every minute of it.

The ride along the River is a good one . One I have enjoyed often. A stop in Winona at
Garvin Heights Overlook is breath taking.
Keep running south on WI side then at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin cross over run down to
Pikes Peak State Park in McGregor, IA.
A ride we take people that come to visit on often.

When I lived in the Badger State, this was one of out favorite rides.

Great riding up there. The last time we rode up to Wildcat Mountain it was 38 degrees and raining. The lady at the park told us we were nuts......lol.

Leaving Tue morning stop in Indy for the heck of it, and Lexington KY. Be in Gatlinburg Friday. Visiting the ARK in Williamstown KY. I am packed already, wife still thinking about it.

Hey Smitty, when you're in Gatlinburg be sure to try the free Shine & whiskey samples. We really like Ole Smoky, they have a Salty Caramel whiskey that's real tasty, only 60 proof but still good.
