Default Lake Michigan Ride

We are taking a ride around lake michigan this summer, starting in the sw burbs of Chicago. Most likely going to head towards michigan first then go up and around coming back to IL from WI. Was just wondering what are some good sites to stop along the way. Most likely going to make it a 3 to 4 day riding adventure.

B15 between Whitehall and Ludington. Make sure you do route 22 around the Leelanau. Great overlook near Arcadia. Be sure to stop in Leland for some smoked whitefish. 119 between Harbor Springs and Cross Village.

As you come down I-43 from Green Bay get off at the Cleveland exit #137. Go toward the lake and find Lakeshore Drive. Take that south to Sheboygan. Beautiful bluffs and lakeshore view. You can follow that through to Sheboygan and ride along their Lakeshore which is very scenic as well. If you just want to check out the bluffs and lakeshore view. Just get back on to I-43 when you get to Sheboygan. I live in Cleveland and know all kinds of places to go along this side of the big pond. Feel free to ask. If I'm not doing anything that day I'll go along for the ride. Just north of me is a city called Manitowoc. It's a great place to stop as well. You could find lakeshore drive from there as well and follow that all the way to Sheboygan. Either of the two communities, Manitowoc and Sheboygan are nice. There is an awesome Harley dealership right off of I-43 in Manitowoc that is outstanding. It's one of three in the country that has an overhead track with Harleys that circle the ceiling. Their logo is "where hogs really do fly" The dealership is called Stock's Harley Davidson.

My wife and I did the same trip around Lake Michigan a couple years ago We stuck to the scenic routes (marked in the atlas with dots along the roads). Spend a night in Macinaw city and take a trip to Macinac Island. You can go parasailing in Macinaw City. Sleeping Bear dunes is a nice diversion. In the UP, there is tons of stuff to stop and visit. We just wandered around and stopped when we saw something interesting. Our trip took 10 days because we had no set schedule and just went with the flow.
