Finished US rte. 20 in Nebraska.
Awhile back I did US 20 Across Il, Missouri and Nebraska. When I got to 385 I changed plans and turned N. to go to Sturgis.
This past Sunday I decided to finish the section of 20 that I missed then continue into Wyoming.
The route goes through the Buttes area and turns north going along and through them. There is a Nebraska State Park along the north section of the route that was very scenic and included a museum and some very ancient structures.
I did take my camera this time and when I stopped to take a photo of the bluffs the batteries were dead. I just can't seem to have everything taken care of on a tour anymore. There were a couple of things I didn't bring and failed to check the camera. Already put new batteries in the camera and put it into the car.
From there I entered Wyoming and rode 20 to Casper about the middle of the state. Past Casper is the Rockies and I do plan ridding there but with a Sportster or the Buell Uly. Didn't want to try it with the 918 lb Road Glide Ultra.
I took I-25 north to I-90 east and through Sturgis again and onto Wall SD. My luck turned good there. The small town has 15 motels as it is a destination for many travelers to see Wall Drug. All were booked! A desk clerk said she heard there might be a room at Ann's Motel a small mom and pop place. Got there and they were booked with one reservation not there. It was 7pm and the owner decided to give me the room rather than gamble the folks might not show up.
I am going to get a picture and post it here because I decided to take the car and my wife to check the state park out. Will leave next monday.
