Default Sturgis 2019

Hi, I'm planning Sturgis this year for my first official trip there. (I passed through a week after it was over in August of 2011.)
So the Pappy Hoel and the Buffalo Chip campgrounds look like the most fun.
What are the pros and cons of each? Looks like about the same $$ , give or take.
Also, I actually prefer hammock camping to actual tents. Any campgrounds with trees in the black hills? I didn't see much of those passing through last time, haha.

TIA

Buy your Chip passes now as they go up and up and up the closer it gets to rally time. Probably already sold out of everything but tent spots.

I don't think you'll find trees at Pappy Hoel but it's a cool place to visit. Haven't stayed there. Glencoe has quite a few trees in the tent camping area but I wasn't impressed with the entertainment. You'll find plenty of other campgrounds up the hill but not with the entertainment like those two places.

Default The Sturgis Experience

I have been to Sturgis 7 times. #8 will be this summer. Not bragging, just saying that Sturgis has something for everyone. The Chip, Glencoe, Pappys, can be a round the clock party. I gotta my sleep every night so I stay at Shade Valley. A lively campground and bar until bar closing. Then it's quiet.

Enjoy whichever experience you have there. Best party in the greatest country on Earth.

Creekside has trees and little cabins with air.

Is Pappy's fairly new to Sturgis? Never heard of it before this thread. Last time there was 2011.

If you want a good night sleep get a tent. I have spend a few wet nights in a tent and would be crappie in a hammock
