Florida to Maryland
Early June I will be taking my bike back up north for the summer.
My plan is to go through (first time) the Smokey and Blue Ridge mountains and also to trail of the dragon. Total trip will be about 1550 miles. Do not plan on any riding after sunset.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
DAY 1: 584 miles
95 north head west on route 10 to 75 north. Stay over in Forsyth GA.
I have no problem with mileage, did 658 miles going to Florida on 95 south.
Usually do 18+ hours in my car.
DAY 2: 227 miles
Head west of Atlanta to 575 to 76 then 64, ending up in Franklin NC
Nor sure where, but plan on some sightseeing in the mountains.
Day 3: 309 miles
Head north over to Wayah rd. then onto 28 to tail of the dragon. Continue
to Foothills parkway. Finish up in Max Meadows, VA.
Do you think its too many miles in one day to ride the dragon and foothills parkway. I am 71 years young.
DAY 4: 405 miles
Continue on 81 and swing over to Blue Ridge Parkway.
Continue to home in MD.
Thanks

I don't know how much time you have, how many miles you want to ride, or what your interests are but since you're in the neighborhood you shouldn't miss the Wheels through Time Museum in Maggie Valley.
Many motels and restaurants in M/G, the same goes for Cherokee and they also have a casino.
If you'd like to take a northwestern detour you could ride west out of Franklin through Robbinsville up to Tellico Plains (TN) on the Cherohala Skyway.
Keep in mind that once you get into the mountains, morning departures may be delayed due to fog and or rain and once you're on he BRP and the SLD, miles are not as much of a factor as time.
Take your time and enjoy the scenery!
