This gets compact, but a bit bigger than a saddle bag .... a cot that breaks down, a small air mattress to keep the cold off your back and a sleeping bag.... your off the ground... which helps With the hips... the cot is made by Thermarest
Gets you off the ground...
... keeps your back warm...
... comfortable nights

I use a double bed size air mattress, rolled up in a stuff sack with a low pressure/high volume 12 volt air pump that clips onto the bike battery for power. It doesn't fit in my saddlebag. It's rolled up tight and bungeed on the back along with another bag holding a set of sheets and a blanket. Here's a tip: When you get to Sturgis...go to WalMart and buy a couple of cheap pillows to use for the week. Leave'em there when you pack up for home.
I learned a long time ago, providing a comfortable place for sleep (AND PLAY..!!) for me and the Old Lady DuJour..whomever she happens to be, makes the trip a LOT more fun.

I use a twin size inflatable mattress by Coleman. Used it for a half dozen years or so. I fold it and put on the passenger seat. I had a 'D" size battery air pump, but it quit working last year at Sturgis. I use a inflatable pillow about the size of a small fist. Good sleeping bag, sheet and a small fleece blanket for the colder camping areas like Yellowstone.
If you are just using at Sturgis, stop at WM or Cabela's in Rapid City and buy one and just leave it when done.
