Default Need Road Trip Help!!!

At the end of the month my brother and me are going to take our 1st ever trip! We'll be leaving out of the Nashville area and we were wondering if anybody had any great for a route? We have 3 days to be back in Nashville so we are going to stay in TN. I'm looking for scenic, fun roads, hotels that are bike friendly, things to do (distillery maybe), etc.... Any help would be great from some of the road vets to help us have a great trip. Thanks!

well I'm not a road vet, but carry a bit of spare gas, make sure you map your gas stops, and take a break and stretch at every stop. Also carry a lot of water, you don't want to overhead on the road. Be safe and report back with pics!

Some ideas:

Run over to the Dragon area about 200 miles from Nashville. A lot of great places to ride, eat and drink. A lot of biker friendly hotels and other businesses.

Take a run down the Natchez trace all the way to the end, Natchez Mississippi, about 500 miles, slow but one of my favorite rides. There is a nice little casino at Natchez and some good places to eat.

Another suggestion would be take off up to Bedford IN, about 230 miles from Nashville, great riding in the Hoosier National Forest, also the Brown County State park. GREAT RIDING.

If you decide on any of theses PM me and I will give you some of my favorite rides and places to eat.

Get out and ride safe but ride and enjoy.

I think everyone was out riding today that’s why you did not get any answers.

I was up your way two weeks ago. I live in N. Ga and we had 3 bikes with wives go up to Bowling Green for an overnight trup to visit the Corvette Museum. If I were you, I would go ride the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, once in Tellico Plains tale Hwy 68 South down into GA and get on Hwy 60. Hwy 60 is a great road and will take you to Suches, Ga. There is the oldest motorcycle campground called TWO (Two Wheels Only). Look it up on the web. The burgers are great there! Y'all could bring your tents and camp or rent a room there. I would then take Wolfpen Gap road to Helen, Ga. (It's a nice little town). Run up through Dillard, GA into Cashiers, NC and Waynesville, NC. In Waynesville you can visit Ghost Town Harley Davidson. All the roads in E. Tn, W. Carolina and N. Ga are great. Have fun!

I would add a vote for the Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala area. If you want to head a little further South, there are some great roads to ride in the Northern part of Georgia also.

Whatever you decide on, ride safe and enjoy...

Nice ride is also backroads throughnortheastern TN Johnson City, Bristol down 421, Shady Valley Tn to Boone NC, Then south on BRP to Little Switzerland, 226 south... Around there you can also ride 180 from Jonas Ridge down and back up......Hwy 80 from Marion to the top to Mount Mitchell..80 is wicked nice...or take 19 to Hot Springs and take 209 all the way to Maggie Valley...Yeah Dragon and cherohalla are nice but there are so many other roads in the hills that are Epic also....

Best rides I've ever had included the following 4 items:

1) Pick a direction.
2) Ride in that direction
3) Turn around at the half way point
4) Come home

Not trying to be a smartass, but the best rides are rarely about the destination and all about the in between.

With all that said ... it may be a bit farther ride than you originally planned, but I'd say ride across the state to visit the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum.

Head south out of Nashville, then east via 2 lanes to Lynchburg, tour the Jack Daniels Distillery, then 2 lane it over to the Smokeys. Ride the Cherohala Highway , but the Dragon? Didn't impress me a bit, way overrated, but whatever, if you ride it you can say you did....lol. Then two lane it back up through Crossville, Bloomington Springs and up into Ky, then west back home. Lots of great riding via 2 lane roads all over the region.
