Went there late spring/early summer last year and it was truly fantastic!! At Jasper, take the time to ride the scenic tram. Its a little spendy but well worth it. Lake Louise is okay, but fairly trendy. The roads from Jasper heading west towards Kamloops are great. If you're lookin for a loop, you might consider going north through Banff to Jasper, then heading west to Kamloops/Ashcroft (Stop by at the Log Cabin Pub outside Ashcroft at Spencers Bridge. Best biker bar ever. Truly) Then you could drop through the Pacific Northwest and some of the best scenery on the planet (I'm a little biased on that one).

Good luck and have a great ride!

Thanks everyone. Here's the "to and from" route I have in mind. This does not include the day rides out from Canmore. Let me know if you'd change anything on the way there and back.

Thanks again for all your input.

Are you taking in Jasper? The Ice Fields Parkway should not be missed.

Definitely. We are spending 3 nights in Canmore, with day rides out of there to include the Ice Fields Parkway.

Yesterday was a great ride to Jasper. The rest of our group turned around at Saskatchewan Crossing but my daughter and I headed on to Jasper. So glad we did. It was a remarkable ride. We got a little wet on the way back, but nothing we couldn't handle. Today is another story. It's raining pretty hard. We might ride, but I'm afraid we won't see much. Any suggestions for a rainy day in Canmore?

I guess this is as good a place as any to post the pictures of our trip. Here are some links to the albums on Picasa. Let me know if they don't work. Thank everyone for your input and suggestions. We had a great time.

Day 9:

On day 10 we rode down I-15 from Idaho Falls back to Utah Valley in rain off and on throughout the day. I think my daughter was shutter bugged out, so no pictures from that day.

Here is a link to the route we followed (more or less).

The waypoint southeast of Cranbrook is the result of a navigational error by the guy up front. One of the hazards of riding in a group, I guess. I was a pretty road, though, so no harm done in going down that way.

That's nearly the identical trip we took some years ago leaving from Nevada.
Although we did Red Lodge and Beartooth on a separate trip coming home from Sturgis.
Glad you had a good safe trip. Thanks for the pics.
