Upstate NY, Vermont, New Hampshire-need info
Sorry if I missed it, but where are you starting from?
Route 3 is great up saranac lake, then 86 over to lake placid which is awesome then hook up to 9 to plattsburgh or you could even hit 87 (the Adirondack Hwy) etc. in the Adirondacks, it is beautiful scenery no matter what. I live about 2 hours south of Saranac Lake in Watertown (hour north of Syracuse) and any time I want a nice day ride it's straight to the Adirondacks.
Did the Plattsburgh trip to the ferry crossing over to Burlington VT. That was definitely a nice trip.

Route 3 in NH is in nice condition. Across the river Rt. 114 and 102 beat the $#!+ out of me a few years ago and I was on a Beemer 1150 G/S with 8" of suspention. The Northeast Kingdom they call that section of Vermont and they don't waste tax dollars on road repair.
I, For one always love all the scenic road which is Route 5 and 20 starting from Route 19 from where I live and ride all the way to Route 12 which would lead me to Utica and head on up North towards to Old Forge, Long Lake (Take a break between the two lakes and looking up at the mountains), Saranac Lake (Another break at the boat launch), Lake Placid (Must dine at the Steak and Seafood House), Wilmington (Riding up on Whiteface Mountain) leading to Plattsburgh's Ferry in order to get to Burlington, VT. (Check out Church Street's Marketplace by dining out at Banghok's Bistro). There are alot of roads you'll enjoy riding in Vermont...My favorite is VT125, VT100, VT 100A, VT108 (Top Notch Secret place: No center stripe) Route 7 and Route 4. You might want to check out Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory on VT100 North of Middlebury. Others have spoke of Kamacaugus Highway Rt. 112. Lots of nice roads between Laconia, Weirs Beach, Meredith and North Conway which will lead you to Mount Washington (Worlds' Worst Weather) which is a MUST for you cuz I'm not spilling the beans here, LOL.
Any questions you need to know, Just chime in and ask here...

I have been keeping an eye on this thread, it is good info! We are heading east this July and need to get all of the state east of Pa. to Maine to complete our states east of the Mississippi. I was thinking of heading to the SE corner of PA and into Delaware, kind of follow the coast up into Maine and then swing back thru mid northern NH & NY, and either coming back thru the US or hopping up to Canada to Detroit and home depending upon how much time we had left at that point???
I'm in Watertown - Alex Bay is a nice cruise - small... just lots of touristy shops and then there's a boat cruise into the St. Lawrence if you're looking to hop off for that sort of thing, as far as cruising through - it's not worth your time, it's one street.
Like I said, you'll love riding through the Adirondacks... lots of mountains, trees, nice curves. Enjoy and stay safe.
