One more thing...the best jazz in town is Snug Harbor on Frenchman's. Ask any cab driver and he will get you there. Not far from the quarter.

I second the WWII museum and also don't miss the Aquarium and River Walk.

If you like blues, you should go to the "Funky Pirate" at the far end of Bourbon Street, across from the Bourbon Orleans hotel. Big Al Carlson is there after 9pm and is really good.

I second Acme Oyster. Oyster Po-Boys, raw, half shell, anyway you want them.

Court Of Two Sisters has excellent food, but on the pricey side. The Gumbo Shop has the best crawfish etouffee in New Orleans, IMO, and the Napoleon House has the best muffuletta sandwiches, IMO. A lot will say the Central Grocery (originator of the muffuletta) has the best .

I just found a great place in Uptown New Orleans, which by the way a ride down St. Charles is a must anyway.
But most locals know about and enjoy "Jacque-Imos" for real Nawlins cooking, Best seafood Muffs, and the very best fried chicken you ever tasted. I would say eating there will be the highlight of your trip to Nawlins, you want have all the out of town tourist to deal with I know they open at 5pm and if 10 mins early you should beable to park right in front of their door. here's the link
http://www.jacquesimoscafe.com/index.html and there addy:
8324 Oak St
NO,La 70118
phone 504-861-0886

You want go wrong with this place

One thing I learned growing up down there is, the crappier it looks from the outside, the better the food on the inside! I gauge any place based on their roast beef po-boy. If it's good, everything else is good!

Try this link
http://www.neworleansonline.com/newo...staurants.html

The picture of the restraunt at the top of that link is Galatoire's (gala-twaaaaas). I worked there when I was 16 and it ain't cheap. They refused Jimmy Buffet because he didn't have a "dinner jacket" and the pope because he wanted to close the whole place for his people to eat. lol

At the top, go to "where to eat" and pick your options.

Like others have said, whatever you do, you HAVE to see the WWII museum!
